The murder of Sue Ann Riggs by her husband, Ralph Riggs and subsequent suicide of her lover, Albert Roy Marsh, were the culmination of ordinary people engaged in ordinary circumstances. Ralph and Sue had a troubled marriage; Albert had recently divorced; Sue and Albert were having an affair.
