Victoria Lu (born 1951) was Chinas first female curator and contemporary art critic. This autobiography, an account of her 30-plus years in the Asian art world, recounts her early days in late-1970s Los Angeles, her years in Taiwan in the early 1990s when the art scene there was just beginning to bloom, and her subsequent work animating Chinas art culture with her relentless energy. (She writes: If I could use one sentence to describe the last six decades of my life it would be: I work very hard every day from morning till night.) The book is divided into two sections: the first contains Lus autobiographical account, and the second presents her more speculative ideas about the present and future of Asian art, and Lus own vision as a curator.
