Descriere LOVE - Alex Pilcher

A selection of the most touching and transformative expressions of \n romantic love drawn from Tate's collection. Divided among key themes \n - such as courtship, passion, symbolism, enduring love and even loss \n - each of the 50 works of art included has been individually selected \n for the particular way in which the artist has attempted to capture the \n ineffable, affirmative, devotional aspects of love. \n Works of art - including paintings, drawings, sculptures, illustrations and \n installations - are punctuated by brief captions adding background detail \n or additional information about the art, artists and their subjects. \n Sometimes chaste, sometimes frenzied, often passionate and \n occasionally heartbreaking, placed together these beautiful images \n create a fascinating and enlightening journey through the visual \n portrayal of love and sexuality in Western art. \n Proposed artists for inclusion: Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Wolfgang Tillmans, \n David Hockney, Sunil Gupta, Diane Arbus, Gwen John, Simeon Solomon, \n Auguste Rodin, William Blake, Bandele `Tex' Ajetunmobi, Duncan Grant, \n Christopher Wool, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Sylvia Sleigh, Sophie \n Calle and many, many more. \n
