\nSaint Eugène de Mazenod knew both wealth and poverty. Born into a noble French family, he experienced the onslaught of the French Revolution and was thrust into exile at a young age. His family moved from one Italian city to another, until divorce ripped Eugène's family apart.\n \nEugène spiraled downward into a spiritual crisis as he pondered his place in the world. Through God's grace, Eugène rediscovered his faith. He founded the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and eventually became bishop of Marseilles. Saint Eugène refused to let the pains of his youth stop him from realizing God's will in his life. \n \nAll who feel abandoned may look to Saint Eugène. This book is a powerful example of not being defined by the struggles one must endure in this life.\n \nEugène de Mazenod was one of those apostles who prepared the modern times, our times...His influence is not limited to the times in which he lived, but continues even in our time. Pope Saint John Paul II\n \n \n
