Alma Karlin, To the Horizon and Back - Dimitrij Grcar

Descriere Alma Karlin, To the Horizon and Back - Dimitrij Grcar

\n \nAlma Karlin was a traveller, writer, poet, and polyglot; she was a citizen of the world, and, though anti-social, a woman of insatiable curiosity and travel lust. A real-life figure, she was a legend in her own time from her autobiographies, stories, and letters. Karlin passed through all of the continents and set foot in the remotest corners of the world, living with indigenous tribes and travelling unaccompanied in a time when many women couldn't even walk in city centres without an escort. Alma Karlin, to the Horizon and Back is a blend of fact and fiction, taking this fascinating true figure and telling the narrative of her life and journeys. The author aims to put Alma's life into a more comprehensive perspective to address the many misconceptions and rumours that have remained persistent about her. This is her incredible story.\n
