Writings of Nichiren Shonin Faith and Practice: Volume 4 - Kyotsu Hori

Descriere Writings of Nichiren Shonin Faith and Practice: Volume 4 - Kyotsu Hori

\nThis volume, the 12th project of the English Translation Committee of the Nichiren Shu Overseas Propagation Promotion Association (NOPPA), constitutes all twenty-seven writings of Buddhist reformer Nichiren Shōnin (1222-1282) included in the Nichiren Shonin Zenshu, Complete Writings of Nichiren Shonin, Volume 4: Faith and Practice, published in Tokyo in 1993. The Nichiren Shonin Zenshu is a modern Japanese version of Nichiren's original writings, translated and edited with annotations by modern scholars of Nichiren Buddhism. Despite its all-inclusive title, the Zenshu is highly selective in that it takes into account only writings considered bibliographically authentic, namely those attested to by original manuscripts. Among such texts, those included in the Showa Teihon Nichiren Shonin Ibun, Writings of Nichiren Shonin Standardized in the Showa Period, compiled by the Institute of Nichiren Buddhist Studies and published in four volumes by Minobusan Kuonji Temple between 1951 and 1959, are considered the most authoritative, and they provide the basic texts for this volume. \n1.Sho Hokke Daimoku-sho (ST 23)Treatise on Chanting the Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra2.Yakuo-bon Tokui-sho (ST 41)The Essence of the Previous Life of Medicine-King Bodhisattva Chapter 3.Hokke Daimoku-sho (ST 44)Treatise on the Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra 4.Zemmui-sho (ST 46)Treatise on Subhakarasimha5.Kito-sho (ST 113)Treatise on Prayers6.Shoho Jisso-sho (ST 122)Treatise on All Phenomena as the Ultimate Reality7.Nyosetsu Shugyo-sho (ST 124)True Way of Practicing the Teaching of the Buddha8.Mokue Nizo Kaigen no Koto (ST 138)Opening the Eyes of Buddhist Images, Wooden Statues or Portraits 9.Hokyo Hoju Ji (ST 217)The Dharma Is More Precious Than Treasure 10.Jiri Kuyo Gosho (ST 230)Phenomenal Offering and Noumenal Offering 11.Shishin Gohon-sho (ST 242)The Four Depths of Faith and Five Stages of Practice 12.Ueno-dono Gohenji (ST 246)A Reply to Lord Ueno 13.Toki-dono Gosho (ST 255)A Letter to Lord Toki14.Sushun Tenno Gosho (ST 262)The Emperor Sushun Letter15.Ueno-dono Gohenji (ST 276)A Reply to Lord Ueno16.Ueno-dono Gohenji (ST 282)A Reply to Lord Ueno 17.Dannotsu-bo Gohenji (ST 283)Response to a Follower18.Nichinyo Gozen Gohenji (ST 293)A Response to My Lady Nichinyo19.Myoho-ama Gozen Gohenji (ST 301)A Reply to My Lady, the Nun Myoho20.Sennichi-ama Gozen Gohenji (ST 302)A Reply to My Land Nun Sennichi21.Kurotaro-dono Gohenji (ST 317)A Reply to Lord Kurotaro 22.Zui-jii Gosho (ST 3
