The Diamond as Big as the Ritz - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Descriere The Diamond as Big as the Ritz - F. Scott Fitzgerald

\n \nIn a 1922 edition of a literary magazine edited by H. L. Mencken (The Smart Set) is this mountain-sized 'gem' of a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Preceding Fitzgerald's most famous work by three years, The Great Gatsby, in The Diamond as Big As The Ritz we see many of the same themes: the arrogance of extreme greed, gawdy exhibitions of wealth, and the murderous tactics that some will go to to protect their power and prestige. In this painstakingly-recreated edition of Fitzgerald's 1922 novella, we get a glimpse into the themes that Fitzgerald himself was pondering before he made it truly 'big.' This 'riches to even more riches to rags' tale is a highly entertaining and fast read for those looking to get a good taste of 1920's booming America.\n
