I Ask My Sister's Ghost - Benjamin Gucciardi

Descriere I Ask My Sister's Ghost - Benjamin Gucciardi

\nAdvice for Pallbearers\n \nTo make the sound \n of your footsteps disappear\n \nrequires practice, \n a cornfield in late autumn\n \nwhen the ground is brittle enough \n to repeat what it hears.\n \nBest if the six of you can go together \n at dusk, find a barn-owl, \n \na corn-crow will do. \n See how close you can get \n \nbefore the bird startles, observe \n the interaction of air and wing. \n \nBefore you handle the casket, \n borrow your mother's finest crystal\n \nvase, carry it through the crowded parking lot \n to the water park, ride the slides.\n \nLet nothing shatter. \n The trick is for the coffin to appear \n \nto float, the weight of his failures \n superfluous. Let him be known \n \nas a saint, for a few moments, \n before he takes up haunting.\n
