Survival? Death as a Transition - David Lorimer

Descriere Survival? Death as a Transition - David Lorimer

\nThis book was originally published under the title, Survival: Body, Mind and Death in the Light of Psychic Experience\n \n \n \nAre you, your consciousness and memories extinguished at death?\n \n \n \nOr is there evidence indicating survival in a new dimension of life?\n \n \n \nIn this searching study David Lorimer examines the development of speculations on the nature of life and death from indigenous tribes to modern neuroscientists and philosophers. He invites you to reconsider your ideas on death by presenting many intriguing case histories of psychic experiences that have too much in common to be dismissed as 'mere coincidences' apparitions, out-of-body experiences (OBEs), near-death experiences (NDEs) and 'post-mortem' accounts of what it is like to die. He argues that only a hypothesis involving our conscious survival of physical death offers a complete and coherent explanation of such phenomena.\n \n \n \nThe author suggests that, if your consciousness is transmitted through rather than actually generated by the brain, death may be considered may be considered the next phase in the adventure of life, a welcome release from the space-time limitations of the physical body. This implies that the widespread materialist assumption that your consciousness is just a pack of neurons that perishes with the brain is highly misleading and quite inadequate if psychic experiences are taken into account.\n \n \n \n \n
