The Silent Shout - Errol T. Stoddart

Descriere The Silent Shout - Errol T. Stoddart

Can it be done? Can one shout silently? The title of this book reflects the contrast in worship styles so prevalent in the Christian community today. There are those who believe worship should be a silent, almost non-responsive experience. On the other hand many believe that public worship should be expressive, vibrant, joyful and even loud at times. What does the Bible say about the matter? This study will explore the calls for silence and the calls for external expression in the scriptures. The Bible says there is a time and a place for everything. We hope to challenge you to redefine your worship responses, so as to bring them from the dark basement of cultural preferences, into the living room of God's divine light. Your eyes will be opened and you will be freed to worship God in both spirit and truth.Without pretense or apology, Errol Stoddart takes on the emotional and explosive subject of 'appropriate' music in worship. With uncanny ability, he speaks comfortably to academics, pastors and laypeople without insult or condescension. This book challenges the cultural biases on both ends of the spectrum, compelling the reader - yes, even liberating the reader, to Worship God in both spirit and in truth.Fredrick Russell True North Leadership GroupPastor, Miracle Temple SDA Church, BaltimorePastor Errol Stoddart has written a masterpiece. A hard hitting book would be an understatement--because Stoddart dissects the issue of worship with a skill that only experience could provide. From start to finish he does not let up until the final word and then he leaves the reader with a new perspective, a challenge, and a new direction. This is a book that all Christians interested in the dynamics of worship should read.Terrence D.
