Black, Buddhist, B-Boy, & Beyond - Kyva Holman

Descriere Black, Buddhist, B-Boy, & Beyond - Kyva Holman

\nWith wit and humor, and delightfully idiosyncratic style, Kyva Holman boldly explores his life, evolution, and hybridity. Presenting snapshots of individual years, he creates a collage of reflections on personal and collective events of significance, weaving in primary material from his 'vault' of lyrics and writings to convey his perspective as it was in various periods. Bringing us into the labyrinth of his hybrid influences, Holman deviates strategically from memoir-style anecdotes-such as touring Europe with one of the earliest live-band hip-hop groups, his paradigm-rattling peak experience while on a meditation retreat, and his current predicament of near-homelessness and blindness-to share his thoughts on topics as varied as the history of Buddhism, the current state of Hip Hop, cyclical time, and the Occupy Movement.\n
