Shadow of the Valley: A Father's War, a Son's Quest, and Combat in the Que Son Valley, Vietnam - Cody Burleson

Descriere Shadow of the Valley: A Father's War, a Son's Quest, and Combat in the Que Son Valley, Vietnam - Cody Burleson

More than half a century after the Vietnam War, a riveting, true story emerges. \nThe author embarks on a journey to bridge the silent gap between himself and his estranged father, whose memories of the war are deeply buried. This quest for understanding leads him to a close-knit brotherhood of Marine combat veterans who become the voice for the untold stories, filling the void left by his father's unspoken past. \n \nIn the company of these battle-hardened veterans, the author travels back in time to the Que Son Valley in 1967, where their Special Landing Force of Marines faced a crucible of combat. During their initial operations - Operation Beaver Cage and Operation Union - the young Marines, barely more than boys, faced horrors and hardships that would shape them forever. \n \nThis is their real-life account, as much about the fierceness of war as it is about the unbreakable bonds forged in its midst and the resonant effects of intense combat on those who fight. Through the vivid and poignant recollections of the Marines in his father's unit, the author uncovers the raw and unvarnished truths of warfare and its profound, lingering impact.\n
