Prayer as a Weapon: How to Go on the Spiritual Offensive - Jesse Romero

Descriere Prayer as a Weapon: How to Go on the Spiritual Offensive - Jesse Romero

\n\n \nIn the eternal battle for souls, prayer is our greatest weapon. \n \nIn this book on spiritual warfare, acclaimed author and radio host Jesse Romero emphasizes the importance of prayer in facing our modern crises, especially for men who are the heads of their households.\n \nHe reminds us that the faculty of prayer is both a gift and a protective weapon from God. Far from a passive routine, it is an intrepid action in which we directly encounter the divine and drive away the diabolic. \n \nRomero identifies the different types of prayer -- liturgical, adoration, petition, intercession, thanksgiving, and praise -- and demonstrates from Scripture and Tradition that prayer is also a weapon. This idea is unfamiliar to most Catholics, especially Catholic men. \n \nFocusing on the necessity and relevance of prayer in the lives of modern Catholics, Romero highlights: \n \nWhy prayer requires humility \n \n- The power of the St. Michael Prayer in protecting one from demonic forces \n- Why specificity is important in prayer intentions \n- Ways to make your prayers more efficacious \n- The role of sacramentals in spiritual protection \n- How only a return to prayer can win the culture wars \nDrawing from Scripture, the Catechism, the lives of the saints, and his own experiences in spiritual warfare and the pro-life movement, Romero provides riveting examples of the power of prayer to advance the Kingdom of Heaven even on this earth. He reminds Catholics of the duties bestowed upon us at our Confirmations: to become joyful soldiers for Christ and to pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17).\n \nThe book also features moving testimonies of the power of the Rosary from medieval times to the present and includes reminders that, in the stirring words of St. John Chrysostom: \n \nThe power of prayer has subdued the strength of fire, bridled the rage of lions, silenced anarchy, extinguished wars, appeased the elements, expelled demons, burst the chains of death, enlarged the gates of Heaven, relieved diseases, averted frauds, rescued cities from destruction, stayed the sun in its course, and arrested the progress of the thunderbolt. In sum, prayer has power to destroy whatever is at enmity with the good.\n
