\nWhat are the secrets of mugwort and moxibustion? This book will be your guide. \n \n- Lorraine Wilcox\n \n\n \nFirst published in 2012, The Moon Over Matsushima was a journey of exploration filled with unexpected twists and turns. It unveiled the ancient relationship between acupuncture and moxa and explored the nature and biochemistry of mugwort. It reviewed various traditional treatment approaches and examined their potential mechanisms. Most importantly, it proposed compelling possibilities for this humble therapy in the modern era.\n \n\n \nIn this stunning second edition, revised and extended, these proposals have been transformed into clinical realities with extensive new research from the Moxafrica project launching moxa into front line primary care in respect of TB, a modern plague. In a groundbreaking extended section, Young also explores cutting edge research from the pharmaceutical industry that may unexpectedly revolutionise our understanding and practice of moxibustion today. He explains the mysteries of Transient Receptor Potential Ion Channels, their connection to chronic disease and pain, and their remarkable affinity for mugwort and the heat signature of moxibustion, as well as its key chemical components.\n \n\n \nThis thought provoking second edition will challenge and expand your understanding of moxa - concerning not just its use in the past, but also its potentials in both the present day and into the future.\n \n\n
