The Unknown Canadian Pipe Smoker - Fraser Moss

Descriere The Unknown Canadian Pipe Smoker - Fraser Moss

Pipe smoking has a long and complex history with its origins in the New World before spreading to Europe and beyond. But when it comes to Canada's involvement with pipe smoking, many Canadians-avid pipe smokers or not-have no idea the significant contributions the nation has made to the lifestyle. No book has ever been published on the history of briar pipe smoking in Canada. Until now. \n \nThe Unknown Canadian Pipe Smoker is the first of its kind. Part historical overview, part literary journalism, this book profiles five companies that have shaped the Canadian pipe-smoking landscape. Complete with interviews and research, author Fraser Moss illuminates their impact and lesser-known histories. Fraser's own personal experiences getting into pipe smoking guide readers new to the hobby on what to look for when buying their first pipe. From factory to handmade pipes, Fraser outlines the benefits and disadvantages without ever needing to break the bank. Common assumptions and myths are dispelled with frank observations and keen wit, with the best experience always the focus. \n \nFraser's passion drove him across the country to hear from the makers themselves. Learning the stories behind the pipes-and the people behind them-has only deepened his appreciation for the art. The Unknown Canadian Pipe Smoker will surely strengthen any pipe smoker's practice, and find new followers, too.
