She holds a master's degree in sports nutrition, the International Olympic Committee's Diploma in Sports Nutrition, and is also a Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She owns a private practice in Portland, Oregon where she does one-on-one consultations, workshops, and freelance writing. She also serves on the USA Climbing Medical Committee. \n \nMarisa grew up enjoying the outdoors and jokes that she can only do REI sports. Exercise is her hobby, and she regularly enjoys paddleboarding, skiing, climbing, and triathlon.
