How to make Russian Switchblade Knives - Wolfgang Peter-michel

Descriere How to make Russian Switchblade Knives - Wolfgang Peter-michel

Switchblade knives remain highly popular, and in recent years an unusual variant has been making the rounds on the global collector's market. Built with a powerful coil spring along the back of the handle, these knives are rugged and dependable, snapping open under almost any conditions. Their exact origins are the subject of speculation - most agree they come from Russia or other former Soviet states. Some say they were made from parts of the Russian AK-47 assault rifle; others claim they were crafted in Russian prisons. What most examples have in common is their rough workmanship and use of simple materials. Still, their no-nonsense design makes them solid, practical tools for everyday use. That makes Russian-style switchblades an excellent project for hobbyist knife makers. If you already have some metalworking skills but aren't yet ready to tackle a high-end custom build, you'll enjoy creating this dependable style of knife. This book includes detailed construction drawings and full-size templates. Easy Knifemaking is a multi-volume series designed to help beginners get started in the craft of knife making without being overwhelmed. Each book focuses on the essential skills and knowledge you actually need - nothing more, nothing less. The emphasis is on creating knives as reliable, functional tools for daily use, not as display pieces or collector's items. With clear instructions, straightforward techniques, and practical designs, the series shows that anyone can make a good working knife with simple tools and materials.
