Descriere Seal Mother - Gerður Kristný

\nThe Icelandic poet, Gerður Kristný, has published\n \nfour collections of poetry with Arc, of which Seal\n \nMother is the most recent. Winner of the Icelandic\n \nWomen's Literature Prize 2023 and the Icelandic\n \nBooksellers' Prize for Best Poetry book of 2022, Seal\n \nMother received universal praise upon publication.\n \n\n \nThis spellbinding sequence of poems tells the story\n \nof the poet's great-great-grandmother, a midwife\n \nwho lived on the northernmost coast of Iceland at\n \nthe end of the nineteenth century. Drawing on the\n \nclassical forms of Icelandic poetry, Kristný paints\n \nclear and simple pictures of the struggle for survival\n \nby the woman and her family in a narrative that is\n \npowerful and timeless.\n \n\n \nHer three previous collections, Bloodhoof (2012), \n \nDrápa (2018) and Reykjavík Requiem (2020) have\n \nall appeared from Arc in Rory McTurk's translation.\n \n\n
